Understanding Sound Therapy: How Healing Vibrations Work

Sound therapy is one of the oldest forms of healing, used across cultures for thousands of years. From Tibetan singing bowls to crystal bowls and tuning forks, therapeutic sound has been shown to promote deep relaxation and support emotional wellbeing.

What is Sound Therapy?

Sound therapy uses specific frequencies and vibrations produced by instruments to help the body and mind shift into a state of deep relaxation. During a session, you lie down comfortably while your therapist plays various instruments around you, creating an immersive sound experience.

How Does It Work?

Every cell in our body vibrates at a certain frequency. When we're stressed, anxious, or unwell, these frequencies can become disrupted. Sound therapy works on the principle of resonance — using external vibrations to help restore the body's natural frequency patterns.

What to Expect in a Sound Therapy Session

At Couch of Vibes, our sound therapy sessions last 60 minutes. You'll lie down in a comfortable position while healing instruments are played around and sometimes placed on your body. Many people describe the experience as deeply meditative — some even fall asleep, which is perfectly fine.
